11_ Spoke and Synapse

This sculpture combines the structure of a wheel with

delicate, semi-transparent, fabric that resembles a neuron.

I used the wheel-like central form as a mechanical core,

then attached softer elements around it to create

branching extensions like neural structures. Interested in

the contrast between the robust expressions of

automotive components and the vulnerable quality of the

surrounding material, these opposing textures fuses

mechanical design with the organic complexity of the

nervous system.
